I was born in Breno, in the province of Brescia. My father is from Calabria and my mother is from Brescia. I was raised near Bergamo, a city that has given me the opportunity to commence the study and teaching of linguistics. At the University of Bergamo, after graduating in Foreign Languages and Literature, I taught linguistics and began my research in second language acquisition. I have been living in Australia since 1992 and can now say that I too have a certain 'history' in this country. After having spent six years in Perth, I now live in Adelaide with my partner and here I teach Italian and Italian linguistics at Flinders University. I am currently completing my PhD on Italian language in Australia. Besides my love for linguistics, I also have a strong interest in the use of new technology in teaching. I am a member of the Australia Project Committee for the promotion of Italian culture in Australia and I have recently become a part of the 'South Australia Curriculum, Standards and Accountability Framework' team. In Perth, my interest in women's issues led me to become a member of the Committee of the National Italo-Australian Women Association of WA. Now, here in Adelaide, I am proud to be a part of the group that has worked towards the first edition of this site. August 1999 |
