Patricia Piccinini

Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone in 1965, Patricia lives in Melbourne. She lived in Novellara (Reggio Emilia), her father's birthplace from 1968 al 72. Her father, married to a teacher of English, had spent a period of time in Africa and subsequently migrated with his family to Australia where he currently works as a photographer. 

Patricia represented Australia at the International Exposition of Art of Venice in 2003, exhibiting five large compositions entitled "We are family", part of a complex project that investigates through the language of art, risks associated with scientific developments and our dreams of having a life free of sicknesses and death. 

Today Patricia is an oft-cited artist, having exhibited in the most important international art galleries including: the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum, Kassel, at the Biennials of Berlin, Sydney, Liverpool and Gwangju, the Taipei Museum for Contemporary Art, the Centre for Visual Art in Lima.
