Serafina was born in Adelaide in 1968 to Italian parents,
both of whom emigrated from Circello (Benevento) in the 1950s.
She has always had a keen interest in the Italian and non English speaking
background communities in Australia and has provided a contribution in
diverse ways. She is proud to have been born in Australia - a land with a
very rich and ancient history and 'living'
cultures. Both her professional and personal lives have put her in touch
with a vast array of youth and elderly citizens from diverse cultural
backgrounds across the world.
Serafina has spent much of her life - and continues to do so - travelling!
She has graduated in Psychology, Italian Language and Literature
and Arts Management. She spends her professional time as the
Communications and Business Manager of doppio-parallelo, a leading
Australian cross cultural performance company. doppio-parallelo has an
extensive history fostering progressive debate and presenting innovative
laboratories and performances in new contexts. Serafina's main
responsibilities are business development,
marketing and audience development, community and cultural liaison, tour
development, forum development, event management, and publicity and
promotions. She is thrilled to have had the opportunity to utilise her
skills and experiences locally, nationally and internationally.
Serafina is currently the Vice-President of the Council for Italians
Abroad (COMITES) in South Australia, a member of the South Australian
Women's Advisory Council and a board member of the Australian Network for
Art and Technology (Australia's peak network and advocacy body for artists
working with technology).
