Maria Montessori Maria Montessori is an inspiration for me. It's as though she
has managed to touch my soul. As a young child I had a speech
problem and was unable to communicate with others around me. I
imagine that period as being in a dark desolate room and being able to
see a pin hole of light flickering in the distance. Going to a
Montessori school helped me to overcome my disability and frustration.
It was as though Maria's determination, perseverance and passion for
children was transmitted to the teachers of her school. During her
lifetime, she struggled to fight for the identity of women and children
with learning disabilities., How many times do we cowardly choose
not to continue to fight for our beliefs when others condemn us?
Maria Montessori never gave up, even when others disapproved of her.
She always looked beyond her boundaries to help others in need and she
truly showed that 'where there is a will, here is a way'. |
