Emily Pankhurst

A person who I greatly admire is the late Emily Pankhurst.  Emily Pankurst was the driving force behind the fight for women worldwide to gain the right of vote.  Although I am not an active supporter of women's rights, I admire Emily for her conviction and the hardships she overcome to achieve her goals.  Despite repeated arrests over a seven year period and enduring ten hunger strikes in eighteen months, Emily remained firm in her beliefs and continued fighting to her death.  It was due to her perseverance and determination that women have to courage and freedom to express their own opinion and rejoice in he fact that in most aspects of society they are considered men's equals.  Emily's triumph against the odds inspires me to work equally as hard for what I want to achieve and know that all things are possible no matter how daunting the task may seem.  Her journey to success is one that I will keep fresh in my mind as I embark on my final year of schooling.
